As the Sun Sets

As the wet grass dampens my feet
The moist air embeds into my lungs
As the sound of grasshoppers cricketing
Drifts through my ears
As the soft scent of roses reach my nose
I run the flexible petals through my outstretched fingers
As the sun sinks beneath the darkening horizon
The sound of birds singing dies
As the sky changes to a silky blanket of darkness
The stars return once again.
