In a corner it lies, away from light,
Hidden from everybody’s sight.
Only kept by those who care,
Like a child, stripped bare.
Now it is time for play,
The greatest game of our day.
Bring out the ball as red as blood,
And players from all different clubs.
It comes off of feet with an almighty bang,
And lands in the hands of a muscular man.
Football is war, the same as invasion,
Men clash with the commentator’s narration.
The game carries its legacy,
In the hearts of young warriors,
Supporters will thrive,
Through countless ages.
