So small,
A tiny leaf.
Like a fallen, golden star
Plucked from autumn air by angels
It saw another year,
Another season
When it fell from the boughs of great trees, to the earth in ages past.
Immortalised in bronze gold.
For Iris
For Grandma

Did she ever wonder
About that leaf so small,
that carried dreams
Over generations, hidden away, carried to a small girl.
Caught in her palm, like a golden teardrop for me
For granddaughter.

She's gone now
Gone where I can't follow
Not yet anyway.
She left behind a hole
deep down in my heart
But time heals.
And gold spills
into my palm a small gold leaf
And it brings back memories
Of the woman I loved
So this is for her for Gonny
For Grandma
