Banjo Patterson
I walk into the forest, I hear the branches sway in the wind,
I smell the salty water as I get close to the water behind,
I feel some of power when the roof of rough leaves open to let the light beam through.
The power it makes me feel proud, brave, and like I grew.
The trees seem to have feelings,
If I’m upset their arms stretch to give me some power and some kind greetings.
The trees, they are alive,
Some people don’t believe, but the trees really strive.
Some people like to be in manmade environments,
I like to be in natural places where there is not much judgment.
I like to overlook the water and imagine where the boat sailed,
The first fleet, old times, no one will sail in the future they will probably propel
The first fleet sailed through Parramatta river,
The water is so cold it could make someone shiver.
The punishments on the first fleet would scare me at home but out there,
I feel so safe like I was trapped in a bulletproof box and nothing could give me a scare.
