beach

As I sit here and watch waves crash, crash, crash.
They hit against the headlands and turn into thin white wash.
The taste of salty ocean engulfs me, I take my next breath in.
The smell of sunscreen lathered on beachgoers makes me look.
Over to the rainbow sea of umbrellas, towels and kids' toys.
The gentle breeze brushes, brushes through the trees as if it were whispering a tune.
Sandcastles destroyed one by one as the waves rapidly climb.
My attention quickly brought back to the cliff, the waves reach the top of the cliff.
And down they dump on me like a ton of bricks.
Before I can gather my thoughts the next waves hit me.
