The beautiful treasure you gave me
At the time, I didn't know what it was
The child in me, wanted to spend it
To use it to buy some treats.

Mother told me to keep it safe
Which all I could see was a plain old coin you gave me
It took me a while, years in fact
To realise that it wasn't just that
It was a sense of security, something of value
And all it was worth, was a kiss on the hand

The plain old coin you gave me
It shines with a silvery glow in the sunlight
It tells me that everything will be okay
That you're still here with me
That beautiful treasure you gave me. . .
