Blue Mountains

Small tufts of kangaroo grass sway in the wind,
The sharp calls of whip birds break the peaceful silence,
Clear freshwater flows through valleys,
A haven guarded by majestic sandstone cliffs.
Shards of golden light filter through the trees,
The setting sun basks the valley with caramel brightness,
Eucalyptus trees stand tall and proud,
A treasure chest revealed.
Brilliant stars shine on a tranquil sea of leaves,
A radiant moon rises on the horizon illuminating the darkness
Possums climb, echidnas crawl, bats fly, kangaroos hop,
A new world discovered.
A bright new sun colours the sky red and pink,
Birds sing as they awake for a new day,
Once again, the grass and trees sway,
A valley basked in blue.
