I was blessed with the tree my mother gave me,

With branches I could climb and stink bugs I could find.

I was blessed with the tree my mother gave me,

Sharing that my dreams could truly come to life.

She showed me her branches,

The ones that had fallen and the ones that fought hard to survive.

She showed me her branches,

The ones that were tarnished, shattered and bribed.

I was blessed with the tree of my ancestors,

covered in raspberry juice and fruit salad pie.

I was blessed with the tree of my ancestors,

But it's missing one side.

One side of my tree has no branches.

One side is hard to climb.

One side I knew once,

The side that gave me love, but ran out of time.
