God’s breath of wind rushes through the long arms
of the grandfather whom they love so dearly.
Arms stretched out wide and high
To touch the sky. Breathe in… Breath out.

His grandchildren, small and paper-thin
Dance around his roots in a tornado of life.
Playfully running to tire him out
Running about.  Breathe in… Breathe out.

Family and friends, young and old,
Together in a circle, a forest of green,
But the grandfather stands, proud and tall,
Rooted older than all. Breathe in… Breath out

Suddenly, a wave of shock fills the air,
Intruders infiltrate the peace of the group.
To attack. To destroy. To dethrone the king,
With one mighty swing. Breathe in…..

He falls to his knees, and lays on the ground,
His family watches aghast.
Grandchildren stop their dances for its worth
To mourn another loss of lungs on earth. Breathe in… Breathe out.
