Bronze Copper Penny

It was a bronze copper penny
The colour of the sun,
Sinking slowly below the sea
As night time would come.
It was a smooth and worn penny
To me it was special,
It brought me good luck
Smooth as a river pebble.
It was my Grandpa's
And now it's mine,
He used to tell me stories about it
Of when he had it in '49.
Grandpa has passed now,
Though I didn't know him very well,
I will always remember
The stories he would tell.
He gave me the penny
A few years ago,
I will always remember him
For the love he gave me, I know.
