Bush Fire

Smoke spreading around me as I run. Ash falling, into my lungs.
I puff and puff, trying to breathe. Passing my family on their knees.
"Run! Run!" they did shout, "Leave us! Get out!"
I fled through the bush, As the flickering flames push,
And collide aggressively into each other.
It's a wild type of fire, It's angry and fast.
I am just ahead of this thing, that will last and last.
My house is ruined, my house is dead. Everyone has fled!
But we stayed to defend! We hosed down everything,
We filled up the bath. Hoping that this nightmare would just pass.
But soon we heard it, the crackle we feared.
We smelt the smoke, and saw the ash that neared.
The flames rose, our house crumpled,
We all dashed away as it rumbled.
We got separated!
But here I am, I have found the shelter,
And here I lay with hope, I am safe.
