Bushfires

Crackling sounds echoing from trees
A fearful current sweeps past the edge of fire
Flames so strong they resembled the sun
Rings of ashes spinning around and around.
The lush leaves now gone, black bark remains
Stumps that used to be trunks have vanished
They told ancient tales for decades
Until destruction arrived.
Everything in its path is now gone
Now there’s no existence of forests.
But nature is magical!
Without a sound, sunlight peeks through black ashes
Possums and birds back in homes of bark.
Fire now races across different lands,
The only forests here are the rainforests
Droplets of shimmering water dripping tranquillity
The forest lives again!
