Queanbeyan to Bairnsdale
A truly beautiful ride
Feeling joy at the chance to see
The beautiful countryside.

The gum trees, standing tall
Seeing vehicles all day long
Caravans, cars and trucks
They see as they stand up strong.

The trees that survived the fires
Still with blackened wood
Have beautiful new green growth
Despite mourning where friends once stood.

The first view of the ocean
Always a breath-taking sight
Of the sun sparkling on endless blue
I once saw dolphins in there, that was the drive’s highlight.

A breath-taking drive to be sure
Full of greens and browns
Watching out for kangaroos
As we take the yearly rounds.
