For many years rain came and went

Dry was never 100 percent

One day the rain disappeared

The waterless plants left dog-eared

For six years now, it’s all been dry

I live in the city, why oh why

Drought’s meant to be a country thing

Yet earth’s as dry as cooking string

The day I saw a bright red truck,

A very welcome stroke of luck

I hugged and kissed my only daughter

For in that truck were tanks of water

After help came, the rain followed

Much water everybody swallowed

The beauty in the crystal drops

For saved were all the farmer’s crops
