Daintree Rainforrest

A sunny, heartfelt day in the forest,
yet the opposite of sunshine and rainbows.
A lorikeet looks down,
axes on the ground, along with logs,
chopped-down trees and thick smoke.
Thud! A tree from high up above, tumbling to the ground, dead.
The trees hug each other firmly like a strong handshake,
like a good relationship, impossible to separate.
Wildflowers dance in the spring breeze,
the trees rocking side to side in sync with each other.
A cloak of bright green leaves covers the moist dirt
and the minuscule insects living on and under it.
The lorikeet soars over the deep green heads of the trees,
which are like a big combined bush.
The Daintree is beautiful, a mirror maze of trees,
yet everyone is different.
I hope I can visit it again, sometime soon.
The Daintree is special in many ways.
Keep it safe, Mother Nature, in your hand
