As I open my ear
I wake up to hear
The sound of the yellow noisy things
With the fast black rings
That help them move around
And dig up our ground
As they get their shiny, sharp, silver blade
And get to work on ripping out the shade
That covered the rainforest, my home
The greatest, most heavily populated biome,
To give them coloured pieces of our skin
Our property but they grin
And so they say
This will do for this week’s pay
I look around me
And I see
All my friends, family, the future, gone
Now that’s just wrong
Stop it, stop it before it’s all gone
All before dawn
All we want is peace
Industrialisation, why doesn’t it cease
You cut us down for wreaths
We think you are thieves
Stop deforestation
And no more industrialisation!
