I fly over your head,

A lime green beauty

A small spot of orange on my belly

My wings, a mixture of cobalt blue and steel grey

I’m described as a petite, colourful and radiant bird

I sit on my special branch, guarding my eggs

Perched, watching the wind gently blowing around me

The waves softly crashing on the sand near me

The sun beaming down on me, glowing with a warm hue

Such a peaceful, calming day

A deafening buzz comes out of nowhere

One by one, all of my eggs fall out of the nest

I fly off the branch before the tree can collapse on me

My home, destroyed

My eggs, destroyed

I started to fly but I didn’t know where

Where to go or where to stay

Where to eat or where was safe

All I knew was that here

Wasn’t home anymore
