Divided Light

That light
That light that bled through the bare frames,
That light from the harmless idle signs,
That noise, forever passing by,
That one light in the front room,
It could have been normal,
It could have been fine,
If you just didn’t go out,
If you had just slept through the night
That one light, with the two familiar figures
That one light, so bright forever burnt into your eyes
The noise you once feared,
Now gone with time
But that feeling,
That feeling won’t ever die
All because that one light and that pointless divide
The divide that dictates your life
The light haunts you in the night,
That one light that makes you scared to say goodbye.
