Donkey my donkey!

Given to me at five wrapped carefully by mother.
I tear the paper with a RIPPP!!!
Peeking inside the black hole all by himself, I reach out.
Rushing to my mum I spring into her arms, squealing with happiness.
I rush to my bedroom, digging through drawers, I find the perfect singlet.
Sparkling sequins and BIG BOLD letters spell I LOVE CANDY!!!
He is the size of a baby orangutan, the colour of almond and the taste of daisies.
Eyes the colour of oak standing through the fields.
He was as soft as a lamb but now he is as rough as horse hair.
He sings like a donkey and runs like the wind.
At day time he is my comfort buddy and at night he is my protector.
I wouldn't let go of him for the world.
