I am part of the Earth

and it is part of me.

Think of every earthquake on my skin,

every eruption of molten rock burning.

Think of every melted ice cap

and every summer blaze.

Every time the Earth dies,

a part of me dies as well.

Each rock and grass blade

is a part of me.

My blood, my muscle, my bone,

I know others might think it isn’t true,

but each time the Earth dies we do too.

If the Earth doesn’t make it, neither will we.

We might be here now, but we don’t have to be.

I am part of the Earth

and it is part of me.

Every earthquake and eruption

leaves scars on my skin.

If the earth doesn’t make it, neither will we.
