Eltham Copper Butterfly

Fragile and timid they flutter about,
their triangular wings single them out.
Their beauty's hard to measure,
they're Eltham's golden treasure.
Thought to vanish into history's page,
But still they dance on the stage.
The sweet Bursaria is their home,
so very far they do not roam.
Copper coloured wings float in mid-air,
like old autumn leaves with a little summer wear.
Brandishing their brilliant bronze wings,
they bewitch bystanders with such things.
Like phoenixes rising from the ashes so high,
they remind us that there's no limit to fly.
They show us every day,
that beauty can never fade away.
