The platypus powers through the water like a swan,

A thick bill snaps up fish and mashes it into a thick and gooey paste,

It swims back to the den, waiting are the puggles,

The mother swallows the fish and lays so her babies can feed,

The puggles look like little pillows, so cute and fluffy like a duck's behind,

Life so young and tender colours the world with bright yellow, pink and green,

One day these young ones will grow

Into something that is independent

But one day

There may be no more left

As habitat is taken

Predators prowl

The water is gone

The den is destroyed

Predators have moved on

Leaving only husks behind

This may be the fate of all

As blundering humans ruin all

Save them

Save the platypuses
