My toes sink into the snug sand,

My tears slow, as I calm.

I forget the loneliness I felt before,

Welcoming my old friend.

I look out at the water,

My only true encourager,

My delicate eyes stung by the sun,

My old friend is welcoming me.

The salty waves roll and dive,

The comforting sun warms and shines,

The shifting sands almost alive,

My friend, the estuary.

Waves, rising, rolling, diving,

Sun, warming, burning, shining,

Sand, shifting, living, sliding.

My friend, the estuary.

My toes tingle, waves rushing over them,

My eyes dry, a smile appearing between my flushed cheeks,

I forget the loneliness I felt before,

Welcome, my old friend.
