Fairy Penguins

Parading away at night
While humans are causing a fight
Are innocent fairy penguins.
Penguins scheduling their next meetings
All cancelled because of our selfish pollution problems
Populations go down without a single care from the world.
Fish slipping away from the grasp of these penguins
Habitats being cleared away and replaced with beach houses
It’s a game of run away and once again all our fault.
“I blame you!” is all we will hear on the day of extinction
We blame each other as one by one,
The animals are lead to their death.
Used for their oils and fur,
None of us will miss them
We never cared anyway.
“Our last fairy penguins”, is what it will be on display
With just one or maybe two penguins
Side by side, weary and tired of no one visiting them
As they wait for death to come….
