Fallen Trees

Trees silently sway in the strong wind, the leaves prevent the wind from entering the forest.
But I can still hear the wind, but hardly.
The lovely luscious landscape is different to navigate. The trees are tightly packed, they are a wall.
The diverse collection of flora and fauna is amazing.
As I traverse through the jungle, I hear beeping, but it is faint and the birds chirping hides the sound.
The beeping gets louder… and louder… and louder…
CRASH! A towering redwood tree falls to the ground, he is soon followed by his brethren.
The bulldozers continue smashing down the trees and ferns, I run away.
“Hey you!” Yelled a construction worker, “You will be safer on a different walking trail.”
“Yeah, I think so.” I responded “I’ll be on my way then.”
“You better!” The construction worker aggressively yelled.
The trees seem sad, somehow knowing its terrible demise.
Flightless birds scurry across the path, from bush to bush.
Other unknown animals rustle in the bushes.
I found a bridge. The crystal clear water is truly stunning, the fish jump up, barely breaking the surface.
I begin to hear cars on the road, a couple of steps later I can see my car.
As I drive home, I think about the doomed forest, the animals, the plants, the river. All of it, gone just like that.
