For Christmas, for birthdays
I receive you as gifts.
With each one of you I receive,
your numbers grow in size.
Up on my bookshelf you lie at rest,
Sitting there peacefully collecting dust.
Your different shapes, sizes and colours
Your beauty is so great it should be on display for all to see.

When people see you their eyes are lit with joy,
If it were possible I would take you with me everywhere.
But fragile frames can be easily broken.
Past, present, future you will always be the same,
I've loved you since the first day I laid eyes on you.

I admire you from afar all day
But when day becomes night
You lay there resting , for me to wake
So that I can fall in love with you all over again.
