Flames

The sun is concealed, the sky full of smoke
Ash fills my lungs, making me choke
I look up into my loved ones gaze
One small spark had set my whole world ablaze.
The flames fill me with a savage rage
I feel as if I’m trapped in a cage
My body feels completely numb,
Then finally, the firefighters come.
With hoses, they shoot down the beast
After hours, the fire ceased
But it will take more than that for the pain to go
It may even take years for everything to regrow.
The ground is charred, the trees are coals
My heart is broken, so is my soul.
A few months later, a sprout starts to grow,
I guess some good things come from the foe.
