Forest Youth

buzz among the mist
grass amidst fists
low leaves, gray light
huckleberry husks
sparrows taking flight
youth lay sleeping
backs to black trees
sharp serenity surrounds
winds whisper soft melodies
to the sweetness of breath
a thousand-voice chorus
a thousand silent singers
creatures of the day and night
warcries ringing out
beneath swaying green-gilded ceiling
