Golden Throne

The sun reappears upon the horizon each day
Fish dive underneath the roaring waves above
People turn off their rumbling boats
Mooring them in the bay, ready to dive into the depths below
The striped lighthouse is like a guardian
Keeping watch over the bay
Turkeys scavenge for food among the brush
Pesky seagulls fight for a meal off the scorching sand
Starfish wait patiently for their saviour
To throw them back into the cool water
The boats float on the glistening blue wonder
That covers the mysteries that lie below
The shipwreck sits in eerie silence
Listening to the deafening world around it
The navy bunkers rest wearily on the sand,
Moments of the past waiting for the future
Immense dunes like golden kings lounge inshore
Lagoons surround their regal power
Shimmering in the broad daylight
I sit astride my golden throne and survey it all
