The sweet sugary sent made me drool
Grandad’s fingers gripped the sides of the crinkled plastic packet
pulling it apart at the sides
The light brown lollies with their stripes of white shone before me
What a glorious sight
“You know the deal” Grandad winked
I kissed him gently on the cheek
In return, a jersey caramel was placed in my hand
I now held in the palm of my hand a memory I’d remember forever
Raising it to my lips, I bit down on the soft delicious lolly
Leaving large teeth marks on its side
My tongue dragged it around in my mouth
Hitting the hard bones that were my teeth
It stuck to my teeth like gum sticks to a shoe
As it dissolved in my mouth, I was amazed just how suburb something could taste
Perfection
I finished the rest of the jersey caramel with a hunger for wanting more
The beautiful remembrance of sharing a jersey caramel with my loving Grandad
