Salty.
Seawater gems, watchful eyes.
Splots of scratches graze her silver skin.
Rough to my touch.
Her sterling halo holds the chain.
Diamond heart torso,
flourishing in the light,
prismatic lines shifting within.

I’m underwater,
gurgling breaths of bubbles.
Too far below to rise along with them.

Its wings encourage me.
Lifting me to the surface,
into solid arms.

Since the day it
awakened from the box paper.
It has always been here.
Stardust wings,
beating with my heart.
