The sand, like sugar powder rapidly moving around my wet feet with every step.
The sound of the waves crashing against the shore.
With a whoosh and a splash.
The sand turns moist and wet.
With every step there is there is warmth.
As you dig deeper into the shore line, steam rises
As you dig deeper in the warm sand, the temperature grows.
Getting higher and higher when the water slows.
As you come closer to the shore the air gets salty and savoury.
As the waves slowly crawl closer to people on the beach.
The sound of the seagulls cawing in the trees above the ocean,
Is like music to my ears.
Be warned when digging too deep!
You might feel the heat.
From one of the tips of New Zealand to the end of a shovel.
Hot Water Beach is the place to go.
