I shine like a star

Among the dead around me

I bear many scars

Oh – how I would love to be free

I am in a field of the fallen

My friends taken without reason

I am the only one in season

And I wait with anticipation

For their reincarnation

Oh look, a human sitting at my roots

With a little blue hat and little red boots

They look up as if they have heard a sound

But it’s just the ear-splitting silence of no one being around

I feel my roots being strangled

The concrete is too strong for me

Why must I have been taken

From the forest of which I was free

I may shine like a star

But I’m struggling to be seen
