Among the dried leaves and debris

A soft orange red glow emerges

The flicker spreads rapidly along the forest floor

Destroying everything in its path

It slithers up the tree trunks

The loud sizzles echo throughout the vast bush land.

Continuous sirens are heard for miles

The heavy hoses are lugged over shoulders with weighty agitation

Spraying the water only to have it turn to ash and smoke

Trauma and pain cover faces thicker than soot

Nonetheless, they continue to persevere

And the blaze gets smaller and smaller

Shrivelling and withering

Dissolving until there is nothing but aspiration in sacrifice.
