The endless swirls of toxic grey gas,

Spewed out of the steel pipes in a great big mass,

They slowly ascended high into the dead sky,

Out of sight of the people who’d never wonder why,

 

They rose past the clouds which were dying and weary,

Destroyed by the people who couldn’t see clearly,

It was them who created this dirty atmosphere,

And them who couldn’t patch the problem right here,

 

It didn’t go away, around the atmosphere it hung,

And breathed in by every innocent person’s lung,

But they continued to live like this, they did not care,

Though their planet was dying, they’d never stop to repair,

 

It cost too much for the interests of their world,

The economy was more important so the deadly fumes swirled,

They didn’t realise its harm until far too late,

Only then did they see their sad and clear fate,

 

Floods, famines, too many a unnecessary casualty,

Were caused by making these killing fumes so carelessly,

So the world was ruined by a small thing called coal and,

The lives of their children, a generation stolen
