It was a long drive to the beach in the summer,
My heart was galloping ever faster.
A blue topaz sky above, the calm wind blowed,
Today’s a scorching day hotter than any other.

The sun’s warm hands gently patted my back,
The cold water of the waves beat my feet.
Seeing the scenic sight in front of me,
My heart was as light as a stalk of wheat.

A mile-wide smile was plastered on my face,
My legs wildly sprinted towards the ocean.
I dived in and out, wave after wave,
Swimming fast with the water’s motion.

I hear the toddlers digging hard in the sand,
The seagull hovering chanted out loud.
Around me the child’s laugh is melodious to the ear,
Even the adults shared fond memories aloud.

Now an airborne monster shattered our world into pieces,
But in my dream the delight on the beach stayed alive.
Rainbow after the storm, riding the waves of joy,
My hope for the blue horizon will always survive.
