King Edward Park

I stare at the edge of the water
Where the sky leans to touch the sea
And for a moment,
The world drifts to a stop.
I hear the whisper of wind
The waves entwined
A daisy chain, fragile and limp,
Hangs loosely around my neck
I watch the paws run toward me
The light pant and the big sloppy smile
And as I throw the ball
I watch him run. Free.
