Rough pads,

Curved claws,

Bright beady eyes,

Soft grey fur,

Sensitive nose,

Sensing for danger.

Tall eucalypt forest,

And low lying woodlands,

Sleeping in the branches,

Dozing in the sun,

Soaking in the warm rays.

‘Land safe’ they cry,

The giant eucalypt dying,

Leaves falling from trees,

Drifting to the forest ground.

Koalas seeking shelter,

Their homes destroyed.

‘Land safe’ they cry,

But land disturbed,

Koalas distraught.
