Higher and higher each step he climbs,

He gets closer to those pretty leaves on the high vines.

But it seems like the leaves are further than what he can see,

And further and further he tries to climb up the tree.

He tries to climb higher with a drooling jaw,

And now he’s starting to get achy paws.

The koala glances at the leaves with an eager eye,

He feels so high that he could touch the sky.

And as he almost reaches the top, it starts to rain,

And all his hopes go flushing down the drain.

The tree and the branches are now slippery and wet,

He wants to give up but not just yet.

Now the koala's at the top and cold,

It looks like the tree is going to fold.

The koala waits until the rain has passed,

He doesn't think that he will last.

He thinks that the rain was pretty rough,

And the koala thinks, that is enough.

He makes his way down to a branch lower,

And from the traumatising scene, of course he climbs slower.
