Koalas

The koalas climb the tree, eating the eucalypt leaves.
Koalas sleep soundly, and deeply for 18 hours a day.
Up high in the fork of the eucalypt tree.
Relaxing, tranquil in their safe place.
Waking to the fresh scent of baby eucalypt leaves,
Koala searches for the tastiest, most delicious leaves.
Chewing, chomping as loud as cow chewing its cud,
Satisfied, energised for a big day to come.
Crawling slowly, gently down the old hardwood tree,
To seek out a new place to call home.
Scrambling and scattering across the forest floor,
Safe again, humble again.
