She prowls around the kitchen waiting to be served,
She hears us coming, so she runs, her paws padding along the polished wooden floor to the pantry
where she awaits her meal.

She observes the open pantry
And to her surprise there is no meat.

She meows like the grumbling tummy of a giant,
Gives up and goes outside to catch her prey.

She runs around the garden, on the soft green grass,
The sunshine on her glossy brown coat,
Stops and waits in the flower bed;
The white daisies tickling her nose,
The red roses gently pushing her sides with their thorns,
Patiently she waits like a soldier going into battle
And finally her meal of the day comes;
A lizard.

She runs fast, as fast as a jaguar,
And leaps into the air,
Traps her prey
Finally she has caught something.

She runs inside with the lizard in her mouth,
Grinning like a Cheshire cat at her accomplishment.
