The long living leaves on gum trees

hide and giggle

as roots of wisdom reach through history as old

as time itself.

Glossy cockatoos soar high like stars,

their wings whipping

bringing wishes of rain to life,

stardust water

leaks out of milky clouds,

soaking their wings

sapphire water surging through rivers,

the veins of earth

plunging down and renewing the once-splitting land.

whistling, winding trees whisper

of eerie past,

as petite emerald sprouts patiently listen to the gossip

of leaf litter,

absorbing the radiant sunlight.

footsteps in history, like birthmarks on Earth’s skin,

are covered by the long living leaves on gum trees.
