Does it hurt a tree
To strip it of its bark?
Shredded, hammered, sawn,
Cast off.
Does it harm a man
To tear him from his land?
Threatened, injured, torn,
Cast off.
Fellers come
and fellers go,
Ripping, razing, wrecking,
Lost.
Fellas come
and fellas go,
Taking, displacing, erasing,
Lost.
What is left
Of trees and man?
Desolate, barren, forsaken.
At what cost?
