When you walk into a mangrove forest,

you will feel the spiky roots

in between your toes

squishing and snapping the twisted, tangled roots.

When you're in a mangrove forest,

if you're quiet you'll hear

the high pitch whistling of a sea eagle

flying with mangrove litter for its nest.

When you're in a mangrove forest,

you can smell and taste

the salt in the air

like a soggy, salty chip.

When you walk out of a mangrove forest,

you'll know the wild and wonder

of the saltwater home

to all creatures great and small.
