Marvellous Mangroves

I walked along the estuary and saw some Mangroves.
“Plop” That's a propagule, let's go see.
I walk even further and the mud gets thicker.
I can finally see some salty leaves, filtering the sea.
Down under me, it's a home for little fish.
They are hiding from bigger creatures like you or me.
I am very big and frightening, I shall grant the wish.
Stompily through the mud, finally to the free.
Mangroves save us from erosion too.
Holding lots of water, probably worn out.
Still holding strong though, and will be for long.
Not as many mangroves to see, as you go South.
Can be sometimes called a gas exchange,
Turn Carbon into Oxygen, helpful you know?
It clears the atmosphere and stocks up the mud.
All because the leaves can blow.
