Melting

I walk through this deserted land of ice; everything looks like glass.
The amazing glaciers surround me, everything here is calm, quiet and oblivious.
I feel safe, with the transparent pillars shielding this tundra, everything inside is safe from the world that is burning just out of sight.
I come across an iceberg and start to climb, but seconds before my foot places itself upon the mountain of frost, it cracks.
The water is dripping on my hands, the snow is screaming in fear and the spikes are preparing to defend themselves.
They don't know what is happening.
But I do, and I know that humans are the cause of it.
