Memories of a Lifetime

Encased are the memories that I choose to keep
Treasured forever in a special place
Where I find happiness in the darkest of times
To hide away from an ever-changing chase

When the world starts to get hard
And I need a reminder of what is good
I flick through the pages of another time
Back I go, back to my childhood

Framed in a glossy state, persevered for all of time
Smiles that never seemed to fade
The memories that bring me such joy
Of the times when we were unafraid

My fingers trace over a cover that tells many stories
No amount of words can explain the tale of time
And for that I go back to the album that is mine
For the memories that will last a lifetime

Never to close the cover, it will forever stay open
For the lessons learnt come flooding back
And the times that I never want to leave me
All the good moments come flooding back
