Memories of him

The thick tyres rolled
Atop the mounds of grass
Shaved thin by the blades
of the grass remover.
Giggles of such joy
As he let me steer
The grass devouring beast
over the patches of still long grass.
The wheels on my matchbox memento
Help me remember those fun times
The times when he was still around...
These memories cover up the hurt
And pain of his passing
And now he can rest
From the earthly endurances of his lifetime,
Which gives me even greater joy
Than the times I spent with him.
