More than Just Shoes
Digging into the tartan
like a nail being hammered into wood
Taking me to victory,
first place
They’ve run a million kilometres
a million yet to come
So light on my feet
but tearing up the track
Shining in the sunlight
as they bolt past the crowd
taking me to iconic places
where all my legends have run
delivering me to gold
so proud on the podium
more than just my shoes
my prize possession
my spikes

My spikes are so special because they’ve taken me to such amazing places, they’ve helped become the athlete I am today, they’ve won me so many races and without them I wouldn’t be at the place I am today. Although they are just shoes in the eyes of so many people but to me they’re something more, they’re not just my spikes.
