Mother Nature

Leaves, still wet with dew, brush
my legs as I walk slowly down the path.
Wind blows, making trees sway.
Small insects buzz around annoying us.
Tiny ants scurry away gathering food.
Juicy berries hang from trees, waiting
to be picked. Water bottles are nearly
empty. We fill them up at mini waterfalls.
This water is fresh and cold and it cools
us down. We go on family hikes and kayak
trips in summer. Sometimes we stay overnight
in cosy tents. In spring all of the flowers open.
Fruit starts to grow, blossoming from bright
pink flowers. Possums creep around at night
making little noises. Joeys hop and jump.
Colours enter the sky. Bright pink
and orange make up the sunrise today,
lighting up the world. The air is cold and
sends chills down my body
when I step outside.
